Xiaoxiao + Sen’s Four Seasons Wedding | Scottsdale, Wedding Photographer

This past December I was honored to have been invited to photograph at Xiaoxiao and Sen’s wedding at the beautiful Four Seasons resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is always a treat to shoot at this resort because of the lush landscape and the beautiful Pinnacle Peak mountain that creates a perfect backdrop for a wedding.

Having never photographed a traditional Chinese wedding there were a lot of really incredible traditions that occur before the western themed wedding. First off Xiaoxiao was dressed in a beautiful red dress. She is placed in a locked room with her bridesmaids. Before Sen gets there they have to hide her shoes. Once he arrives he has to pass tests. First he has to get past the door into her room. Her bridesmaids won’t let him in until he bribes them with money, which are placed in red envelopes. Once he gets through the door, in order to marry her, he then has to find her shoes. Luckily for Sen they were very quick and found them right away (which were hiding in the umbrella outside their patio). He then places her shoes onto her feet. At this point they then participate in an exchange of tea to both set of parents.

I just loved the pre-wedding pictures because the colors and beauty and laughter that was shared is incredible. The best part about being a wedding photographer is being able to experience many different cultures day in and day out.

Following the pre-ceremony rituals Xiaxiao and Sen went to get ready and Kylie and I photographed the detail shots and prepared for the first look.

I just love how excited Sen was to see Xiaoxiao in her __ dress. Not only was the ceremony absolutely stunning but the light we had for their bridal pictures are my absolute favorite from the day!
